The Berks County Conservancy is a
501(c)(3) conservation organization that has been serving the Berks County community since 1974.

Philosophy

Understanding conservation will serve to protect the Berks County you love. Education for all ages including classroom visits, adult educational programs, cooperative classes and activities, and conservation projects benefit the entire community. We can help you teach or learn conservation lessons that impact life.

A priority of the Berks County Conservancy is to educate community members about their township or borough. Decisions that directly impact your daily lives in your community are made on a local level. We want to help you get involved, and can provide you with the information you need to positively impact your community.

Our goal is nothing less than to make sure that we are reaching Berks Countians of all ages with meaningful environmental education opportunities that help them understand the choices and challenges we face as a community. Environmental education was the number one opportunity suggested by our membership through a focus group survey, and we are responding. Through partnerships, a focus on urban revitalization and education, we plan to build for ourselves a strong role as stewards of Berks County’s environment. Berks County is also blessed with a large number of outstanding environmental education programs at organizations like Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, South Mountain YMCA, Nolde Forest EE Center, Penn State Cooperative Extension, and our school districts.
